Men: What size belt should I order?
For men, we suggest ordering 2” larger than your normal waist size in casual khaki pants (i.e. a man with a size 36 pants should order a 38” belt). However, if you wear an odd size in pants, we suggest ordering 3” larger than your waist size (i.e. a man with a size 35 pants should order a 38” belt). Trust us, this is the best way to find the right size, but we’re more than happy to accept exchanges if you need a larger or smaller size.
Women: What size belt should I order?
For women, the most accurate way to obtain the correct size is to put a measuring tape (or string) through your belt loops, so that the waist is fully encircled. Cinch the ends together (like you would a belt) and this measurement equals your ideal belt size. If your measurement yields an odd number, round up to the next even number (i.e. your measurement is 33 inches, order a size 34 belt).
The item I ordered said “up to 8 weeks,” what does that mean?
Sometimes we run out of certain products or sizes, but we’re always rushing to make more! Hopefully we will ship your backordered products sooner, but please allow 8 weeks for delivery of these items.
What stores sell your products?
The vast majority of our sales happen through our incredible retail partners. Currently, we sell to almost 1,000 locations around the country and abroad. These stores vary from traditional men’s specialty stores, fine gift stores, golf clubs and resorts, and campus bookstores. Give us a call if you are looking for a store near you and we’ll search our database for a retail partner that will carry what you’re looking for.
Why don’t I see products for my favorite school or team?
All of our collegiate, professional, and fraternity products are officially licensed through that institution, with their permission and with a percentage of each sale going back to that institution. We are constantly adding new licensed partners, so please let us know if you would like your school or team added and our licensing team will work on it!
I never completed my order, but my credit card shows a charge from you.
Some card companies put a temporary hold on charges when you initiate an online order, even if the charge is declined or you cancel your order. We do not control when the funds are released, so please contact your financial institution for assistance.

How long does monogramming take?
We ask that you allow up to 8 weeks for monogrammed items. Because every piece we make is hand stitched, your monogrammed item will be made from scratch, so there’s no way to expedite or rush this service. Please feel free to contact us to see if we have an updated delivery time for your specific order, or we’ll send you a shipping confirmation once it is on its way to you!
How should I format my monogram?
Please select the letters in the dropdown windows in the order you’d like them to appear on the finished product. For Classic monogram styles with the larger center letter, the last name should be the middle
Where will the monogram go on my product?
For belts, the monogram is stitched into the end of the needlepoint on your right front hip as you wear the belt. On a flask or wallet with a motif or logo, the monogram will replace the motif on the back.
How do your products hold up? What should I do to care for my Smathers & Branson products?
We make all of our products to stay with you for years. It’s been almost ten years since we sold our first belts, and we still hear of customers who wear those same belts today. We love to hear that, and with proper care, we hope that all of our products stand the test of time. Some of our favorite products are our dog collars, because our dogs put more wear and tear on our products than anyone else, but the collars hold up through the ocean, mud, and anything else our dogs can throw at them.
One simple step you can take to protect the needlepoint would be to treat it with a Scotch Guard type product. You would need to follow the product guidelines and be careful to only treat the cotton thread.
How do I clean my products?
We use cotton thread, so if the item gets dirty, you can try using a damp cloth with a small amount of soap to clean. Silver plated or sterling silver products, such as our money clips and cufflinks, may tarnish over time from exposure to moisture, heat and elements in the air. Try and avoid direct contact with perfumes or chemicals as they will also tarnish. To clean, use silver polish or an instant tarnish remover safe for silver plating.
What should I do with defective merchandise?
Any product that you have that you feel is showing manufacturing defects should be returned to our customer care team. Please include a note describing the issue, and we’ll take the appropriate steps to repair or replace the item as needed.
Is the needlepoint really stitched by hand?
All of our needlepoint is done 100% by hand in Vietnam. We’ve been working exclusively with a company there for almost ten years. We taught them the process, and they’ve perfected and improved the art ever since. It started with one small village of about 50 stitchers working out of their homes and has now grown to a cottage industry that employs thousands of incredible Vietnamese men and women. Read more about our incredible manufacturing story here.
My waist size has changed, and my belt no longer fits. Can you help?
If you’ve lost weight, congratulations, and if you’ve put on a few, we know the feeling. For a $35 fee, we can add up to 2” to your belt by using longer leather tabs, or we can shorten the belt as much as you need by cutting needlepoint and reattaching the leather tabs. Send the belt back to us using our online exchange form, and write a note in the special instructions field letting us know how you’d like us to tailor your belt.

He’s Austin’s dog and our office mascot. He’s in the office just about every day, doing his best to keep the troops in line. The photo below was his birthday last year!
